One of the PROF’s goals is to engage all chemistry professionals, and that includes meeting Division members where they are! The Regional Ambassadors initiative began as a Division Innovation Grant, bringing PROF leaders and volunteers to the ACS Regional Meetings to talk to members about the Division. It was recognized as the “Most Unique Project funded by a Division Innovative Project Grant” at the 2024 ChemLuminary Awards at the ACS Fall 2024 Meeting.
PROF Ambassadors will be deployed as in-person resources to educate 2024 ACS Regional Member attendees about PROF, the benefits of PROF membership, and how we are working to “elevate professionalism” throughout the ACS and within the greater chemistry community. Ambassadors will be armed with digital tablets to showcase PROF programs and register members, PROF Swag and pins to hand out to prospective members, and be donned in new PROF shirts to make them visible and approachable throughout the entirety of the meeting.
Ambassadors are reimbursed up to $200 for meeting registration to support 2 Ambassadors per ACS Regional Meeting. The 2024 cycle is open until Friday, September 20, 2024. If interested, please get in touch with program leader Matt Grandbois at ambassador@acsprof.org.
